Project Accounting

Welcome to Project Accounting! Project Accounting is responsible for overseeing post award administration including, but not limited to, requesting for funds via letters of credit or invoices, financial reporting, training, financial compliance and audits of sponsored research awards received at Caltech. Project Accounting is headed by the Director, Urmila Bajaj.

 

Project Accounting is part of the Office of Research Administration and works closely with Office of Sponsored Research, Export Compliance and other administrative units in Business and Finance.

Project Accounting is organized into two teams, Project Accounting and Audit Coordination and JPL Accounting, to support the academic divisions. Each team is headed by a Manager and is assigned to serve academic divisions and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The Lead Accountants act as the main liaison between the divisions and Project Accounting. Cash Management is responsible for cash collection, on-line reporting and Payroll Distribution Certification and is supported by two senior accountants reporting directly to the Director. Cost Transfer Compliance is supported by an Accountant reporting to the Director and is responsible for reviewing and processing all cost transfer requests submitted by the academic divisions.
